Picture of the Day 2012

Picture of the Day: 2012. I try to take at least one picture each day. Sometimes they are exciting, sometimes not so much.

Bacony Bacon

Aug. 18, 2012
I awoke to the delicious smell of bacon. Seth was such a sweetheart--he made me breakfast. It consisted of bacon and coffee :)  It smelled so good I ate it all before thinking of taking a picture, but here's the note he put at my spot at the table:

'Twas baconicious :)

Occupy Eastside!

Aug. 17, 2012
Seth mentioned that he and the other potential Physics C kids were joking about holding an Occupy Eastside rally on Monday morning, to protest the lack of administrative support for the class. I said any self-disrespecting Occupy protest needed a drum circle, or some bongos :)  I went to Hoggetowne Music to see if they had some cheap ones. They didn't--boy, bongos cost a lot more than I expected! They did have a small used toca djembe (or is it djembe toca?) but it's still too big for a backpack. But it looks cool :)

Sorry Hoggetowne Music--maybe next time. The next best thing is the bongo app! Now Seth can be just like Sheldon and play bongos at 3 in the morning :)

I Love My Moose Candle Holder :)

It's so pretty! :) Not sure if they still sell them, but check out Angie's PartyLite page for info.

What a Tangled Web We Weave

Aug. 15, 2012
I was pulling out of my driveway on my way to pick out a new bathroom cabinet when the sunlight caught this web just right. I parked and walked back to photograph it. Spiders and webs are fascinating, but I don't want to get too up close and personal with them.

Did you hear about that new family of spiders discovered in Oregon? Kind of cool, in a frightening way.

More Supplies

Aug. 14, 2012
More building supplies for the parking space construction arrived. It turned out we didn't get enough sand and gravel so Mike bought more and Home Depot delivered it. Poor Seth has to do the rest on his own since Mike is in Seattle.

La Cucaracha

Aug. 13, 2012
Another day of clearing out closets and cabinets for the remodel. Today I found the kids' old Halloween costumes. One year Seth wanted to be a cockroach, and we cobbled this together from various other things--the mask is supposed to be a bee, the wings were fairy wings that we de-glittered and spray-painted over, and then he wore brown sweatpants and a black turtleneck to complete the outfit. He was the most adorable cockroach ever, and I do not exaggerate! ;)

It Was a Dark and Stormy Afternoon...

Aug. 12, 2012
I dropped Mike off at West End golf course and got an eyeful of the day's storm building. Of course that didn't stop Mike from playing--it just meant a long break at some point to wait for the downpour to taper off and the sun to return.
