Picture of the Day 2012

Picture of the Day: 2012. I try to take at least one picture each day. Sometimes they are exciting, sometimes not so much.

An Unexpected Photo

Dec. 16, 2012

I'm such a rebel. Seth and I went to see "The Hobbit" and I took a photo right there in the theater! Awwww yeah. Livin' on the edge I tell ya.

Overall I liked the movie. I loved the extra frames-per-second; no problems whatsoever and I prefer the look of it. I wasn't so keen on the added Radagast action scenes. I'm ok with his character being in the movie--he did play a role in Tolkien's world. I just didn't like Peter Jackson creating scenes out of whole cloth, like the sled chase through the woods, or the entire chase/battle scene before Rivendell.

Best comment I've seen so far was on Twitter, from Molly Ringwald (it was retweeted by someone I follow):  Maybe it's because I was ten when I read it, but I don't remember Thorin being a hottie.

Photobomb

Dec. 15, 2012

Party time! We had a small group this year--mostly because I forgot to invite anyone. Luckily Mike did. Our old friend Karl made it from Texas which was really nice, and some friends from town were also there. I tried to get some photos taken after dinner whereupon Phil photobombed me.

The Meat Grinder

Dec. 14, 2012

We always throw a birthday party for Mike to keep it separate from Hanukah and Christmas. The theme is Mike's Favorite Foods, so we have a roast goose and chopped liver. The other dishes have changed a little over the years. Mike's party was the next day and we were trying to scramble and get things ready. This year's affair was more thrown-together than normal due to me being sick, but we had the goose thawed and the house more or less clean. Everything else is optional :)  Here's the aftermath of making chopped liver:

A Checkered Past

Dec. 13, 2012

I was up late watching tv and realized I hadn't taken a picture yet--ack! This checkerboard is hanging on our wall in the living room. My Aunt Donna made it and gave it to us for our wedding. I've never let anyone actually play checkers on it though because in this household the pieces would have been lost or broken :(

12-12-12 12:12:12

Dec. 12, 2012

I love these kinds of dates and so does Seth. His chem class took this picture at 12:12:12 and did one up on most other people--they are also all seniors!  So it's 12:12:12 on 12-12-12 in 12th grade :)

Sweet Revenge

Dec. 11, 2012

I got back at Seth for the gigantic wine glass by getting him gigantic Reese's cups. This package has 2 cups ;)  I suggested he use a knife and fork!

Bucket List

Dec. 10, 2012

We were getting the rotten wood in our roof replaced, so of course that's the day we get a deluge of rain. It kept Mike from leaving town--his flight was so delayed, he knew he'd miss his connection in Atlanta and cancelled his trip.
